Okay, now I know what you are going to say. What is THAT?

If you’ve ever been in the backcountry you’ll see, or rather hear, these little critters above timber line. Pica’s are very shy and its rare that you’ll see one. They do however, make lots of peeping sounds as you pass by. Sometimes you’ll see a brave one pop out near you and start shouting. They are so cute!
I did this study for the larger painting I’m working on. It has a large boulder field, so although I want to add this little guy to the piece, I wanted to practice painting rocks. Rocks are hard! …well you know what I mean :o)

That’s neat! I read a great book about Pica’s once. It was a novel. I wish I could remember the name of it!
