This is a little impressionistic sketch I did this morning.  Its a Russian Olive branch.  Not as detailed as my aspen branch and I love the color!  I was experimenting with diox purple and sap green.  Its fun to use those two mixed together to get your darkest value. (black?) You can bend it either warm or cool, depending on what you’re after.

I’m OBSESSED with getting my canvases larger, so I’m stretching up a few big’uns today!

Those are fascinating blends from an essentially two color palette! I can see a great nocturnal or winter image out of that.

Going big? How big? I always try to remember this useful word of advice I picked up from Martin Mull’s book: “Don’t make a canvas so large that you can’t get it through the studio door.”

I try to remember, but… maybe I should tattoo it on my arm?

    You are so funny Edgar!
Larger that a bread box but yes, smaller than my studio door.
