“A Passing Presence”

“A Passing Presence”

24 x 30 oil/canvas

I finished this painting this morning and wanted to get it posted early. We have a busy few days ahead of us. We are selling our calves (finally!) tomorrow. So this afternoon we will be sorting out our replacement heifers. What this all means is, we finally get paid tomorrow, (yea!) and we’ll pick out some new mommas for next year.
But, oh right…the painting! I really like how this one came out. All sort of Howard Post – Maynard Dixony :O) with nice design and shapes.
This view is looking north from our ranch toward Square Butte. It really is a spectacular sight if you’ve never seen it. Each evening it gets these amazing shadows on it. Almost every evening, I stand outside and watch it change as the sun goes down.

This is grand! What beautiful color and contrast. Yes, you’ve got the Maynard Dixon thing down! And, you’ve got the most fantastic view. It reminds me of some of the mesas in New Mexico.
Best wishes on the sorting and selecting for new mommas!

Deb, that is really nice! Beautiful! Congrats on a hard subject – at least for me!

I can see the Dixon in the high clear sky and the soft gray shadows of the mesa. Nice job, Deb!

Best fortunes in that mama picking.
